Baseball Splits, Coyle Walks Off Game Two Win

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team split a pair of games with Triton on Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 10-16 in their overall record.

Game One: Triton 7, Elgin 4

Reed Burns led the offense with three hits as Brennan Coyle, Connor Lund, Austin Daubenmire and Jack Perrone each scored a run.

Matthew Rosado started the game and pitched two innings with one strikeout. Brady Rickert came in for relief and tallied three strikeouts in two innings. Max Woodward pitched the final three innings and struckout one batter.

Game Two: Triton 7, Elgin 8

Nic DiMarzio earned his first win of the season as he came in for the last inning and allowed no runs and no hits. Jack Bennett started the game with Kyle Wayda, Sam Cutinello and Leth Pearson making appearances on the mound.

Wyatt Sabalaskey and Lund had a team-high three RBI apiece as they and Enzo Novelli registered two hits. Nathan Gerritsen, Lund and Novelli also scored two runs.

ECC was down 7-6 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. Novelli singled and advanced to second on Gerritsen's walk. Coyle hit the walk-off double on the first pitch he saw to clinch the 8-7 victory.

The Spartans are back on the road and face Oakton for a single game on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
