Elgin, Ill. - Head baseball coach Bill Angelo was honored at the 2025 Elgin Image Awards on Tuesday night.
These awards recognize outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations who are making a difference in the City of Elgin by promoting the positives of why Elgin is a great place to live, work, learn, do business, get involved, visit and enjoy.
Coach Angelo was one of two people named as a Professional Rockstar, awarded to individuals who have significantly improved Elgin's image through their professional achievements.
His legacy is built on three cultural factors that he believes creates a winning team: quality humans, great work ethic and a passion for the game of baseball.
Throughout his 29-year career as ECC's head coach, he has amassed over 850 wins with a .592 winning percentage. Under Coach Angelo's leadership, more than 170 players have moved on to compete at the four-year college level, including 20 All-Americans and 10 drafted with several others signing free agent contracts into professional baseball.
His commitment transcends baseball and fosters a lifelong loyalty among alumni who have served as assistant coaches and return as spectators in Elgin and across the country.
